HARDWARE: These include the physical part of the computer you can touch. They are:
1) MONITOR A monitoror a display is an electronic visual display for computers.
FUNCTION OF MONITOR
1. It is an out device
2. It ir used for watching computer video and games.
3. It is also known as VGA.
4. To display information in the computer.
2) HARD DISK A magneticdiskon which you can store computer data. The termhardis used to distinguish it from a soft, or floppy, disk.
3) MOUSE: A computer mouse with the most common standard features: two buttons and a scroll wheel, which can also act as a third button.
FUNCTION OF MOUSE
1. For selecting objet.
2. It's an input device
3. To enter command.
4) DISKETTE: Afloppy disk, also called adisketteor justdisk, is a type of disk storagecomposed of a disk of thin and flexible magnetic storagemedium, sealed in a rectangular plastic carrier lined with fabric that removes dust particles. Floppy disks are read and written by afloppy disk drive(FDD).
FUNCTION OF DISKETT
1. It's used for storing data.
2. It's an input and output device.
3. It's coated plastic.
4. It can also contain about 1.44 million characters of data
5) PRINTER In computing, aprinteris a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media. The two most common printer mechanisms are black and white laser printersused for common documents, and color inkjet printerswhich can produce high quality photograph quality output.
FUNCTION OF PRINTER
1. It's an outpv divice.
2. For printing out texts or graphics on the computer.
3. It's an integral part of the computer system
6) SCANNER Desktop scanner, with the lid raised. An object has been laid on the glass, ready for scanning.
In computing, animage scanner—often abbreviated to justscanner, although the term is ambiguous out of context ( barcode scanner, CAT scanner, etc.)—is a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image. Commonly used in offices are variations of the desktopflatbed scannerwhere the document is placed on a glass window for scanning.Hand-held scanners, where the device is moved by hand, have evolved from text scanning "wands" to 3D scannersused for industrial design, reverse engineering, test and measurement, orthotics, gaming and other applications.
FUNCTION OF SCANNER
1. It is input divice.
2. It is used to enter picture into the computer.
7) POWER SUPPLY A power supply unit(PSU) converts mains ACto low-voltage regulated DC powerfor the internal components of a computer. Modern personal computers universally use a switched-mode power supply. Some power supplieshave a manual selector for input voltage, while others automatically adapt to the supply voltage. Most modern desktop personal computer power supplies conform to the ATX specification, which includes form factor and voltage tolerances. While an ATX power supply is connected to the mains supply, it always provides a 5 Vstandby (5VSB) voltage so that the standby functions on the computer and certain peripherals are powered. ATX power supplies are turned on and off by a signal from the motherboard.
8) SPEAKER speakers external to a computer, that disable the lower fidelity built-in speaker. They often have a low-power internal amplifier. The standard audio connection is a 3.5 mm (approximately 1/8 inch) stereo phone connectoroften color-coded lime green (following the PC 99standard) for computer sound cards. A few use a RCA connectorfor input.
10) KEYBOARD In computing, acomputer keyboardis a typewriter-style device, which uses an arrangement of buttons or keys, to act as mechanical levers or electronic switches. Following the decline of punch cardsand paper tape, interaction via teleprinter-style keyboards became the main input devicefor computers. A keyboard typically has characters engravedor printedon the keys and each press of a key typically corresponds to a single written symbol. However, to produce some symbols requires pressing and holding several keys simultaneously or in sequence. While most keyboard keys produce letters, numbersor signs ( characters), other keys or simultaneous key presses can produce actions or execute computer commands.
FUNCTION OF KEYBOARD
1. It's input device.
2. To enter command into the computer.
3. To control the personal computer
11) CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT (CPU) Acentral processing unit(CPU) is the electronic circuitrywithin a computerthat carries out the instructionsof a computer programby performing the basic arithmetic, logical, control and input/output(I/O) operations specified by the instructions. The term has been used in the computer industry at least since the early 1960s. [ 1 ]Traditionally, the term "CPU" refers to a processor, more specifically to its processing unit and control unit(CU), distinguishing these core elements of a computer from external components such as main memoryand I/O circuitry.

THE SOFTWARE: These are sets of programs or instruction written for the computer to carry out a particular job eg. Windows, IBM, MS-DOS, internet explorer etc. Though sofware are letters that can be seen but it is not possible to handle them like hardware and aiso it is not possible to read them with pysical eyes when written on magnetic materials
